Message from the President

Mr. PIERRE ACHKAR

President of LHA

The Lebanese hotel industry is a significant contributor to the national economy. It is One of the Largest Employer in the Country generating around 200,000 direct jobs and more than 350,000 direct and indirect jobs in total.

We are now facing new era of public-private sector collaboration between Ministry of Tourism and Lebanese Hotel Association which has emerged as a point of optimism for the industry’s future.

Enhanced public-private sector collaboration is essential for the nation to maximize its tourism potential. There is no doubt that there is a clear correlation between successful destinations and the level of cooperation and synergy between the public and private sectors. Each destination needs to build effective and vibrant public-private partnerships.

  • We would like to actively work to strengthen our interaction with the Lebanese Hotels, facilitating and empowering them and improving their effectiveness and efficiency.
  • The LHA is in the process of fundamentally restructuring by evolving from a traditional top down hierarchy to a hub and spoke model where it becomes the hub for the Hotel Private sector allowing the easy sharing of information especially on the best and worst practices in the region.
  • I believe the membership of LHA is embracing the changes taking place within the organization and is encouraged by a growing dialogue that is drawing hoteliers, allied members and the public sector together to proactively look at improving tourism.
  • I am more convinced than ever, we are on the right path since I see more members that support what we are doing and are hungry to play an effective role in the hotel industry that is moving LHA to the prominent position it has held in the past.
  • We are reaching out to our Membership and embracing the opportunity to renew and strengthen our relationship with the hoteliers.
  • We shall ignite a positive excitement among our hotel members as both independent hoteliers and chain hotels around the region are viewing this as an opportunity to network with industry colleagues and learn about best practices that both small and large hotels are using to become more successful.
